Where would you like to go this year. The Rubicon or Dusy Ershim Trails are again the likely canidate. I am leaning towards the Con' this year since I may have a bigger(wider) rig by then. And, the Con' seems to be more accessible to the larger vehicles than the Dusy is. Anyway, I would like to see what you guys want to run this year and when. Normally we try to get out towards the last week of August. So, vote for which trail and when you want to go.
Rubicon???
Dusy???
When??? |

Moab is only 2 1/2 hours from me now I vote there...
Not to hijack, but what type of rig are you looking at Scotty ? Your not thinking of taking the new land yacht wheeling are you ?

Dusy: Pro: 2 hours closer,un-real back country, fishing , less traveled. Con: Too tight for big rigs, open for shorter season.
Ribicon: Pro: You get to say you did the "Con". Con: Way too many people, waits for the trail too clear, farther drive, smells like shit.
I vote Dusy. |

In all honesty, I don't care where we go or what we do. When is the big question for me. This would likely be a five day trip again. If we run Dusy, I would like to run it entering from the Kaiser Pass side this time, spend two days at Ershim Lake relaxing, and then move on. The middle section of the Dusy is the only reason why I would lean towards the Con'.
Fordyce is an option, but its much shorter, has some deep ass water crossings for the smaller rigs, and is further than the Rubicon from SoCal. But, we have to remember that BA guys are from all over. If we do the Con, we could do it both ways from DoRobbs and back. Stay at Spyder Lake, then Buck Island, and then Rubicon Springs, and back. And, I would vote for a Monday departure and run it mid week to avoid traffic. If you run it mid-week, you pretty much have the trail to yourself.
Rubicon also allows for a few more NorCal guys to make the trip. Fordyce is much harder than even the Con is. I won't consider running the Con on a weekend, unless its in late Sept after the jackaii punk kids go back to school.
Dusy allows us to run it on the weekend. So, we could still do a Wednesday travel day, go in on Thursday morning, stay two days at Ershim, go on and stop at the lake on top of Thompson Hill for that night, and then finish at Courtwright Res on Sunday and then out. Sunday would need to be an early pack-up and departure from camp though so everyone can get home in a timely manner. |

Water is certainly an issue on Fordyce. I run 40's and 3.5" of lift plus a 2" body lift and it comes over the floorboards on slow days...
I'd really like to do the Dusy as I haven't done it yet. I'm @ 103" wheelbase and 83" wide though.

I'll be out of school by august ( I hope), so that means a small chance I could break free for a trip. Since I missed the Dusy last year, I would vote for that this time again. Tom |
Bronco, Jeep, Zuki... I really don't care, just shut up and drive. My RigRater Score: 823RRv1.0 with a BOA of 25.44 |

Yeah, but you've narrowed both ends of the Bronco. You won't have any issues on it. We had one full width guy there last yeah. No issues, unless your body is wider than your axles. |

| Okay, looks like everyone wants to run Dusy again. So, looks like Dusy Ershim it is. Would August 23-27 work for everyone? That would be Wednesday thru Sunday. Wednesday being the travel day. We would meet at the Kaiser Pass Entrance to the trailhead. I believe that there are places to park there, or we could leave the tow rigs down in Shaver Lake like we did last year. |

Its brutal on your body. And I'm not talking about your rig. There is a 8" tall rock every 4ft for 10 straight miles. You barely get out of 4lo 1st gear. My back was soooo sore from just trying to keep myself in the seat. It really kicked my ass! |

| Kinda late but I vote for Katemcy Rocks in Mason TX. I would like to meet face to face with some of you and shake your hand.. And Katemcy is only 120 miles for me... ;) Maybe next year.. That would give me the encouragement to upgrade my small 28 spline axles to the 31 spline alloys and full spool like I have on my scope. I have been putting off Katemcy until I can make that upgrade.. I am afraid with the 302-T19-35" Boggers and my heavy foot those small axles would explode...LOL!! |

BITCHEN!!!!
I was hopeing you guys would do Dusy again. I am putting it on my calendar right now. I will be doing Rubicon earlier that month and should have just had enough time to recover from that by then.
When you say Wednesday is a travel day when/where do you meet up? Do you actually start the trail on Wednesday or do you just get in to the area that night so you can start early in the morning of Thursday? |
