Oh, I still have my stock carrier, this was Tom's old bumper and carrier that he replaced.
Pops straightened it out and added a bead on the mechanism to keep it from popping out so easy.
Eventually I'll do what Tom did and we'll fab a new one.
It's on a long list of things I'd like to do. If I had money.... |

Ok latest update. The transfer case is rebuilt and twin sticked w/JB fab twin sticks The Tranny is rebuilt and installed, It required a Lokar flexible dipstick and tube to get around the JD headers. They got that yesterday. The front driveshaft didn't fit with the current exhaust, so thats getting redone with a summit 3" turbo muffler and its being run out the back to make it a bit more comfortable for the occupants. It should get started up and test driven today. They did a bit of an inspection yesterday to point out other problems that I might want addressed. My P/S pump is leaking. He's going to try to locate the source of the leak. My lower radiator hose has a pin hole leak ( I wondered where the water was going) he will replace that, and my alternator isn't properly mounted so it can move. While it was there I also had them install the edelbrock high flow waterpump I've had on the shelf for about 3 years. My rear driveshaft will be basically brand new, the D/S shop said it was too worn at the splines. The front needed a new U-joint. Its also pretty worn, but they said since it was a part time setup it would probably be ok. Tom

Update from last night. They gave it a test drive and it shifted through all the gears and seemed to be working fine. The exhaust has to be reworked so the front driveshaft will fit. I should be picking it up today!!! Tom |

Picked it up thursday night. The exhaust looks good. They managed to keep the long tube headers, but its a tight fit. From there its dual 2 1/2 to 3, then a Summit turbo muffler and 3 inches out the back. I may have to extend it out and down to keep the fumes out, but I have a power steering leak that I want to fix first. The tranny is nice. I can tell first is a tad lower, cause when I pull it into the back yard I have to hop a tall curb, and it can climb it now, where I used to need a little bump. Of course that could also be related to the new torgue convertor. OD is sweeeeeet. My EB hasn't seen 70 mph for years, but it did yesterday. The interior sound level is dramatically quieter. Tom |

I've got a little over 100 miles on it now. The tranny is very nice. I'm still tweaking the shift points a little, but it shifts smooth yet firm. I'm really liking the OD, and the new exhaust. I will have to run it out the side, cause the fumes are killing me, but other than that its got good power and its a lot quieter than the old setup. Tom |

I think I'm done with the 4R programming. I also installed some heater controls. The PO installed controls from something else and they never worked right. I could turn on the heat, but I couldn't turn it off. I got 2 of the three stock cables on ebay, and for the heater control valve I've got the old cable from the Linc arc welder. It all seems to work fine now. I also have the exhaust situation addressed, it now exits just behind the rear tire. I'm still chasing a power steering leak and a coolant leak. Hopefully I get them buttoned up this weekend so I can put some miles on the EB this week. Tom |

I flat towed a few times after that, but with a much stronger tow bar. I recently sold my tow rig, so I drive to the trail now. The real problem was a lack of braking in the towed rig. I hope to get a brake buddy or similar if I tow in the future. Tom |
