OK, so I bought a parts Bronco that came with a motor in a million pieces. all machine work is done but Im not sure what the guy was trying to build. He got a 3.110 stroke crank which suggests a 317 but it appears he got Keith Black pistons for a 331 or 347, dont know how to tell the difference. He aslo got a cam for a 351W.? Any input would be appreciated. I know the cam is wrong. Has anyone had experience with Keith Black pistons? Or built a 317? This is my first stroker and im not getting warm and fuzzy about it, think I might scrap and go for a 331. Good idea?

The the pistons are flat tops. The rods are to long for a 347 they measure about 5.6. Looks like I need to get a new crank and rods. A 331 has 3.25 stroke 5.4 rods. The guy I got it from said it was some wierd displacement. Im building 2 bronco's so im rebuilding the stock 289 built to about 350 horse/365 torque. then i will build the 347 for the next one. first one is more of a resto. second one is a toy. not sure about compression ratio yet, still workin on heads. Thinking about running propane in it. |

I have built a few small block ford engines, and what you say is true you have in your hands a 347 which is a healthy little bitch. Kieth black are nice pistons, Are they flat tops,dome tops? what is the compression ratio? I am new to a 331 what is the formula to reach 331? |
