I'm looking for a place that has a good deal on a complete 9" big bearing with all the bell's and whistles!
I know I could do the junk yard deal and cut this down and weld that...But I dont have the time and expertise for all dat..
Bolt it in and go!
I found a place on Ebay and it seems like a fair price for what Im looking for.
Tell me what you guy's think..
$615 - Bare 9" Housing, 35 Spline Extreme Axles, Bearings, Studs, & Retainers
$1245 - Center Section (Strange Nodular Iron S-Case, Nodular Iron Daytona Pinion Support, 1350 Forged Steel Yoke, Motive Performance Gears, 35 Spline Detroit Locker & Timken Bearings)
$369 - 11" Disc Brake Kit w/ Parking Brake

$2229 - TOTAL
This would be an extremely strong setup with your choice of gear ratio. It would be a bare housing, so you would need to install your own mounting brackets. We do not have a jig for the Broncos. Other options would include:
+ $125 - Nodular Iron Pro N-Case (Double Ribbed Design)
+ $0 - Aluminum Daytona Pinion Support
+ $0 - Aluminum 1350 Yoke
- $130 - Weld-On Disc Brake Kit (No Parking)

This weekend I finally got the Bronco back on the road. Everything installed rather easy and better yet,no "busted" knuckles!

Installed new master cylender,proportioning valve and bent new brake lines.

Next was the new drive shaft with the 1350 u-joints and the Fourtreks Yoke guard.What a great product!!
Ordered a set of Lokar E-brake cables from Wild Horses,topped off the fluids and bled the brakes.
Next was the break in, and everything worked great!
Now bring on the "Hammers"!! |

Other then doing a high pinion 3rd member,I believe all the products were the best money could buy.You could shave some money by using your existing drive shaft and drum brakes etc..
Im pretty sure I wont be having any issues with this set up, but time will tell. |

Rick, Chris (elusive on JA) has one for $100 he'll sell. You just need drums for it. The backing plates are there, just no drums. |

I had my rearend made to whatever size I needed.
I believe a full width 9" would be an easy find in a U-yank it yard!! |

Rick,
I have a pair of 31 spline Tom's KA Axles that I ran in my full size 85 Bronco. That is the same width as 90% of the 1/2 ton housings out there. They are in great shape, $150 takes them! |

in all of your searching around did you happen to see any full width axles for sale? The bronco has a front end just waiting for a rear-end match up to get set up.

I Also did the explorer disc brake kit from FMS,and Wild Horses beefy U bolt kit with Mopar spring perches from Summit!
Im really happy with the whole set up and thanks to Vortex Dave for his help on this one
Next I need to up grade the rear drive shaft and make up some brake lines.
It never ends!! |

I'm not sure I can kiss that much "ASS" right now! My lips are still soar from building the front end
True, but I would just do a spool. Believe it or not, you won't see that much difference between it and a Detroit anyway. In fact, the spool's road manners on the highway will be BETTER than the Detroit. And, look at the ground clearance gain! You can find a BB housing here for $299 plus free shipping:

Then just swap in that 3rd member, shafts for $319, and move your drum brakes over! You are out LESS than what you had posted up before. |

Eric, if I were going to build a 9", the only center section I would use would be the www.truehi9.com 3rd member. Do that with that housing you found with the 35 spline shafts and you'll be good to go. Then go with the disc brake option of choice.
Just my $.02 though. |
