I took the "cow" over to a friends shop last weekend to get a serious facelift, you might call this major surgery. Since I don't live where there is a desert in my backyard anymore, I decided to go in a different direction than the trail beater. I will keep all posted to the progress of the truck. I do need an old set of hinge and striker posts, if anyone is sitting on an old body. I've already gutted the inside and started cutting out sections of the floor. I'll probably start disassembling the frong clip this weekend. I have a set of door inserts and a rear seat for sale in the Houston area if anyone is interested. Items are in fair condition, inserts better.

I really like it when you can see the cage all by itself. It really shows that everything is lined up nicely. Looks killer ! (and your garage is way to clean)

For those who dont' frequent CB, I yanked the cage and finished the welding. Will the main welding. I need to pick up some seatbelt tabs and fab some grab handles and what not. But here's the cage work, this thing is kinda heavy.

It also requires using shims in the body mounts to help line things up.
broncow Posted - 02/21/2008 : 05:35:58 AM
Well, It's more than just lining the doors themselves. I'm having an issue with the center post that the front and rear doors latch or attach to. There's been a lot of trial and re-trial and I'm just about at the end of my rope with the doors. I'm just a bit out of my leaguw in this situation. I need a good body guy to point me in the right direction.

I hear door alignment is not a whole lot of fun to begin with. I took mine off and they are still not right.

How about a close up of the situation?

I watched a guy hang a door with some saw horses that he was able to adjust the height with. He had the door resting on it with the height set and tightened the hinges up. This may only work for one adjustment and since we have height and top/bottom control it may not be the solution for the bronco door.

Alright, I want some opinions...
I'm having a very difficult time lining the doors up properly. I know they look OK in the pics but in person... A whole other story.
I'm thinking of trashing the hard doors and going inserts w/ soft doors. This should speed things up a bit but am having a hard time deciding.
Mostly I just want to drive my truck again. Its been 3 years.

Looks good, nice to have it moving on its own again I am sure.

About 131 inches. Turn radius has suffered a bit.

Well I got the 'cow running again and cooling properly... Long story. But here it is running under it's own power and hopefully soon to be one color. I'm hoping by the end of summer. Surprisingly, there is a LOT of little sh!t that needs to be done first. We'll see.

Same thing that has happened to this site.

Hadn't been doing much while the holidays were upon us and business was going nuts. Things have slowed a bit and weather is a bit colder than I like but I've got some things in mind for the next few months to keep me busy. Surprising how much time the little things take.

When you get time and need a beer give me a call and come by. I'll buy.
If you need anything around the house let me know, I have a few contacts with contractors and well, I do the appliance repair thing.
So put my number in your book and remember it's there.

I know where that is. I drive Riley-Fuzzel all the time going to the Hardy Autobahn. Nice neighborhood, too! Nothing was for lease when I was looking otherwise I'd be in there.

Sorry about the hijack. Talk to you later!

Where in Spring are you? Been wondering about your status for a while now. Give me a buzz when you have time.

Imperial Oaks, bro. Off Rayford Rd. You don't want me to call you... My hours suck and I don't get home until late at night and hardly get to see my family. I'm trying to hook up with another gig, so I'm pretty much limited to just a keyboard and mouse all day. The company that I work for (now) is strict on the phone calls. I feel like I just took 10 steps backwards by moving down here. On a good note, I love the weather!

Before you ask, the company I came to Houston to work for, got aggressively acquired by another company... it has truly been a ride (I'm being nice... I'm on a company pc)!

Wow! I never saw this until now! I'm sorry about this Alan. I got really sick and was in the hospital for a spell. Most of my time was scrounging up the effort/time/money to get my family down here from Ohio. I apologize for this.

The Bronc is looking great man! I can't wait to see it in it's completed state!

Been a while. Got the wiring done and it actually works. Still working on console panels and tidying up the spaghetti.
Did get a chance for me and the boy to build a tailgate/tire carrier. copied the "tiregate" design.
Here's a pic. Not a great one, sorry.

Haha this is an awesome project, what do you plan on running in the truck? rocks, mud, anything? it's huge! the cage looks awesome, and i really like how you tied your dash in with the cage and how the tubing connects to the floor, Looks good!
